Questions families ask
If you don't see your question here, call me. There's no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your parent's care.
Is your help really free?
Yes. Families never pay me. When your loved one moves into a community or adult family home I introduced you to, that community or home pays me a referral fee, and it doesn't change what you pay. If you choose somewhere else, or decide not to move, you owe nothing.
How is this different from the national websites?
Many national sites collect your information and pass it to several communities, and then the phone calls start. I'm one local person. I learn about your loved one, bring you a short list that fits, schedule the tours, come with you, and stay with you through move-in.
What areas do you serve?
Richland, Kennewick, Pasco, West Richland, and the surrounding Tri-Cities area, including Benton and Franklin Counties. If your loved one is a little farther out, give me a call and we'll see what's possible.
Mom is in the hospital and can't go home. How fast can you help?
Call me as soon as you know a discharge is coming. I'll help you understand which level of care is needed and look for openings that fit, so you have a plan before the discharge date.
What's the difference between assisted living and an adult family home?
Assisted living is a larger community with private apartments, dining, and activities. An adult family home is a licensed house in a regular neighborhood caring for a small number of residents. Some people thrive with the activity of a community; others do better in a calm, home-like setting. See the Care Options page for more.
When is it time for memory care?
There's no single moment. Families often start looking when safety becomes a worry, like wandering or getting lost, or when caregiving at home is wearing everyone out. If you're asking the question, it's a good time to talk it through.
Do you come on the tours?
Yes. I schedule the visits and go with you. While you get a feel for each place, I'll ask the questions that are easy to forget in the moment.
How do families pay for senior living?
Usually some mix of savings, income, the sale of a home, long-term care insurance, VA benefits, or Medicaid for those who qualify. I'm not a financial advisor, but I can point you to the right local people and help you find places that fit your budget.
I live out of state. Can you still help?
Absolutely. Many families I talk with grew up here but live elsewhere now. I can tour on your behalf, share what I see, and keep you in the loop by phone, text, or email.
Do I have to decide right away?
No. Some families need a plan this week; others are planning months ahead. Either way, the decision is always yours.
Still have questions?
I'm happy to talk them through by phone. There's no cost and no obligation.
